weighting

the weight of the things we are
these things are too much sometimes
so we drag them, pull and push them
hoping we may lose some along the way
only to discover we have collected more
more with out trying, more with out asking
too much more
we sit on them and wait
waiting for someone else who may need something we have
i wait for relief from these things
the wait becomes endless so we search for salvation
we need to be saved from ourselves
stopped from sinning, asking for redemption
not loving ourselves because of the weight of days
mirrors only reveal what you want to see
take the layers of things off
look at your world with nakedness
the beauty of the things you carry will be there.

I liked the first half of the poem. I was thinking of it as a metaphor for people or emotions we've picked up and won't let go of or can't get rid of. It could be a metaphor for anything, I suppose.

The redemption and sinning was a little much. Unless what your carrying is guilt?? Guilt is bad, but a necessary evil. We all are faced with it at some point in our lives. If you look at ourselves from the outside, almost like an outer body experience, you'll see our "ugly" selves. If guilt is truly the main character in your poem, then the mirror would be redemption.
